When I was young I learned to knit and crochet. Like most of you, my Grandmother and my Mom did their best to keep me interested with small projects. But, I was too easily distracted, and Mom was so good at it, it was always easier to have her do it instead. I have always done some sort of craft, but was not passionate about it. Knitting had not yet sunk its hooks into me, and I was busy raising children, taking care of my home and working full time.
After caring for my Mother through an extended illness, my Mother passed away and my life changed. That void became filled with a renewed interest in knitting. I reached back into my past and pulled from the knowledge that my Mother had instilled in me to knit and purl. I started knitting again.
I traveled all over California and Arizona scouting out yarn shops and looking for something special. I saw everything from small to large, from Mom & Pop's to "almost corporate" set ups. I would spend the whole day driving somewhere far, just for the chance of finding some great yarn, decent needles and the "right atmosphere." Soon I had taught every friend and family member how to knit and it occurred to me that I could do this for real.
I have visited so many different types of shops that I decided to create a place with the right yarn and the right atmosphere. See it, touch, feel it! I knew that I could make a place where people who shared my love for yarn and knitting, could gather, listen to music, share their dreams and make new friends. The customer's my friends, have really been the best part. Everyday is a surprise. Each of our friend's brings something special t the yarn shop everyday. the Knit Affair is a place of sharing with friends. Come see us.
